An Avalanche of Stephen News

Posted in Stephen Moyer with tags , on January 14, 2009 by AdoreBill

Golden Globes Stephen Moyer ArrivalsWell finally we are started getting a lot of news about Stephen and all I can say it is about time. I know I speak for many of you that we have be suffering from Stephen withdrawal for the lack of news about him for a while. Now it seems we have an avalanche of news bits about Stephen that I’m going to go through them point by point. The only reason for my delay in writing them is that I went into a trance state when I read them all. I needed time to digest all the information and saver the moment like a nice cold drink after walking through the desert.

So the first one I want to update on is the Brentwood Theatre and Stephen’s generosity during his holidays. As many of you may have heard Stephen was in England spending time with his children during the holidays and while he was there he took the time out of his holiday to fulfill his obligation to his fans. While in England he went to see the play Mr. Fantastic Fox with his children at the Brentwood Theatre on Dec. 28 and while he was there he signed the donation certificates and insisted on signing all of them regardless of the amount that was donated. As an additional treat for his fans the theatre included with the certificate a photo of Stephen on the set of Merlotte’s bar. Well my certificate arrived in the mail this week and I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to receive it and have it personally signed by Stephen. What also gave me great pleasure was knowing that I was helping out a good cause that would benefit others and that it is an organization that Stephen holds dear to his heart. Too bad I do not the time to fly out to England when they will be having the unveiling. Hopefully the theatre will be able to coincide the event with Stephen attending the premiere of “True Blood” in the U.K. for the FX Channel in April.

The next little tidbit of information that came out a few days ago was a little gossip story regarding a person who stated that they saw Stephen shopping at Banana Republic in Beverly Hills. Unfortunately the person reporting the sighting didn’t take a quick picture with their camera phone but by their description of Stephen dressed in tight jeans I forgive them. I think I too would be mesmerized by his presence and admiring him that I would forget to take a snapshot as well. According to the spotter he was friendly with the staff and that he looked absolutely gorgeous to the point that the spotter had to control themselves from going in for a feel. Well in the presence of such an amazing man I think it would take most of his fans a lot of will power to control themselves.

After Stephen’s candid appearance in Beverly Hills, Stephen attended the BAFTA Tea Party that is thrown the day before the Golden Globes. Photos were taken at the event and finally we could see new pictures of Stephen. All I can say is the photos were breathtaking. Since Stephen started shooting season 2 of True Blood he was sporting his Bill look with the sideburns and dark hair with a bad boy edge to it which set his blue eyes beautifully.

Now the big event occurred this Sunday on January 11 with the Golden Globe Awards and I have to tell you the thrill of seeing Stephen and in a tuxedo is something I am still treasuring. Watching him walk the red carpet and doing the interviews were a real treat. What I loved the best is that he doesn’t hold back. When the interviewer asked what is it like to do all those nude scenes and he uses his hands to describe the up and down motions of his buttocks by the direction of the director is sheer pleasure for me. He doesn’t seem shy at all to discuss it and the seems to like to play around with the subject. Perhaps one of the cutest scenes is when one of the reporters mentions to Anna Paquin that the Golden Globe is a she and she said she didn’t know that. Stephen proceeded to tell a joke by saying “is that where the batteries go.” This made Anna burst into full laughter and who wouldn’t. Stephen is such a charming man that not only is he extremely gorgeous but has a wonderful sense of humour, has massive sex appeal, and is generous, caring and humble. Stephen was asked by a reporter what were his feelings about Anna winning and his response was “I am so pleased for Anna. This series has been so well received in America and it is great that the critics recognize its impact.” Now that sounds like a man who appreciates others’ accomplishments.

So now I have been bombarded with so many pictures of Stephen, but I am not complaining. I am spending massive time surfing the internet trying to see as many news items and photos about Stephen as possible because I know it will be several months again before we see Stephen at an event and till the summer until True Blood returns. So till then stockpile on the Stephen news pieces and photos to survive through the next drought.

Happy New Year!

Posted in Stephen Moyer on January 4, 2009 by AdoreBill

Stephen at PremiereA new year has begun and with it a sense of a new beginning. As for seeing Stephen on “True Blood” we will have to wait till the summer, however, filming for season 2 will begin at the start of this month. As the filming is to begin questions start popping into my head, such as “what is going to happen to Bill in season 2?” Is Alan going to follow Book 2 or not (hopefully not)? Will we get more airtime and “revealing” scenes of Stephen this coming season? So many questions but, there doesn’t seem to be anyone out there who can give us the answers. Of course I have read some of the spoilers that some claimed were leaked out and based on what I read it sounds like all 12 episodes have already been written (in the spoilers they mention some things that don’t occur until Book 3). I don’t know how far in advance they prepare the scripts for the series, but like all of you, I am left in the dark scratching my head.

The only glimmer of hope of seeing our Stephen before the second season premiere of “True Blood” is at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards on January 11, 2009 where “True Blood” is up for Best TV Drama Series and Anna Paquin for Best Actress in a TV Drama. We all know Stephen was snubbed for Best Actor in a TV Drama because really how could you have a Best Drama and Anna as Best Actress for her portrayal of Sookie if it was not for Stephen’s portrayal of Bill. Hopefully, we will see him on the Red Carpet and during the telecast. Too bad “True Blood” did not get anything for the SAG Awards (another snub), then we could have seen him again in his suit. After that we will have to wait till the summer to see Stephen on the show.

Stephen has mentioned he has been offered some other projects to work on which I am glad to hear, however, I hope these other opportunities do not interfere with his role on “True Blood.” North America is finally beginning to realize what an incredibly talented actor he is which has not been seen since the days of Hollywood legends: James Dean, Marlon Brando, James Stewart, Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston and so on. His time has come to make his mark on Hollywood and hopefully Hollywood is listening and watching and gives him the roles that will propel him to the top. I guess what I’m trying to say in this post is I want to wish Stephen the very best and I truly wish him much success and happiness in both his professional and personal life. Thank you for your talent and for the joy that you bring to so many people with your performances.

May you all have a Prosperous New Year!

A Few Insights on the Set of True Blood

Posted in Stephen Moyer with tags , on December 20, 2008 by AdoreBill

it-is-so-a-dateI have always wondered what it must be like on the set of True Blood. Are they silly, are they serious, or are there any divas there? Well based on some information that has come out from various interviews by the cast members it seems that on the set of True Blood everyone seems to get along and have a great time with each other. Very recently Kristen Bauer did an interview with the ladies from true-blood.net on their blogtalkradio program and she talked in detail about filming the various scenes on True Blood. What I really wanted to get from the interview was any information on Stephen and how he is during filming. After all Stephen is the main reason why I watch True Blood and any insight into the man is pure gold to me. So finally in the interview Kristen discusses in detail the scene from Episode 4 (Escape from Dragon House) where Stephen and Anna run out of Fangtasia into the back alley and Stephen sweeps Anna into his arms and runs. Well, that scene may have lasted maybe 5 seconds on our TV screens but, it took them almost the whole night to shoot. Not so much as Stephen not getting the scene right but it had more to do with trying to make Pam and Eric look like they were “flying” away. So here is our Stephen doing his scene over and over again, picking up Anna and running down the alley way. Kristen said that Stephen had to do that scene 40 times!!! All the while he had to control the look on his face and make it appear that Anna was as light as a feather and he couldn’t breathe. After all he is a vampire with super human strength and vampires don’t breathe. What probably made it harder for the other cast members to keep a straight face was as Stephen was running all they could hear was the “stomp”, “stomp” “stomp” of his feet. Not very vampire-like. So as a result they would break into laughter. So you would think before the 40th retake of having to run down the alley way carrying Anna, Stephen would be in a bad mood, instead he is the opposite and so are the other cast members. They couldn’t stop laughing at the circumstances around the shoot. I remember reading some posts where people mentioned Stephen seemed to struggle picking up Anna when she was wearing the white nightgown and he was carrying her back to his house. To me it didn’t appear that way, but if he had to retake the scene 20 or 30 times I think he would be quite tired by then. Yet he doesn’t seem to complain and has a lot of fun on the set.

Many people who have worked with him, and Stephen himself has said, that he is a mischievous type of guy. While he waits for his scenes to be shot he enjoys joking around. Anna once mentioned that Stephen is a big tease and he is always teasing her on the set. Also he is a very talkative individual with lots of energy as stated in a recent Swedish interview (thank you Shadaliza for the translation). Although on the show you would not say that Bill and Eric are best buddies but, in real life Stephen and Alex are very good friends. When the two of them are on the set together in between takes, they joke around about everything and anything and talk non-stop. All I can say is I cannot wait for the DVD of Season 1 to come out and hopefully they will include alot of behind-the-scene footage and lots of bloopers. With the fun that this cast has with each other I think there would be so much footage that the Season 1 DVD could easily be a 10 disks set. To me the more the better.

I would like to say thank you to Shadaliza from trueblood-online.com for translating the Swedish interview with Stephen into English and to the ladies at true-blood.net for their interview with Kristen Bauer which you can read on their site or listen to on their blogtalkradio site .

Places Where True Blood Is Filmed

Posted in Stephen Moyer with tags on December 15, 2008 by AdoreBill

hot-billWell the holiday season is fast approaching and there hasn’t been much news about our remarkable man Stephen. It looks like we have to wait until after the New Year when Stephen returns back to start shooting Season 2 of True Blood. Now that made me think where does the crew of True Blood film their show? So I did some research and found places where you would have a good chance of seeing Stephen filming the series. Unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near these places but if I did I know I would sometimes pop by to see if I would be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of him. So here are some of the places where you may see him:

Los Angeles

1. Hollywood Center Studios – 1040 N. Las Palmas Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA (Now this is interesting: True Blood is shot next to the Disney Channel’s “Suite Life of Zack and Cody” TV show. I wonder if they still do the “Tours of the Studios”. If they do now you know that they are right beside the Disney Channel’s show). I just hope they don’t walk off the set and into the wrong studio especially Jason and his standard dress code for the show.

2. Eagle Rock, California, USA

3. Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA

4. Long Beach, California, USA

5. Alex’s Bar, 2913 E. Anaheim St., (Next to the Auto Zone, entrance in the back) Long Beach, CA 90804. This is where they shoot the scenes for Fangtasia.

6. Sun Valley, Los Angeles, California, USA

7. Shreveport, Louisiana, USA

8. Mansfield, Louisiana, USA

Now if any of you ladies live in the Mansfield/Shreveport, LA area and want to work as an extra on “True Blood” you should contact Glorioso Casting in Mansfield, LA because they casted the extras for episodes 2 – 12. You can reach them at http://gloriosocasting.com/BLKGlorioso/Welcome.html.

Now if you are in the Venice Beach area you may be lucky enough to catch Stephen skateboarding along the boardwalk, shopping at the Santa Monica Organic Market or eating at Katsuya on Hollywood during his off time. Now we know Stephen should be walking the red carpet for the Golden Globes and possibly for the SAG Awards so if you have a chance, try to get a front row seat to see him in person.

Well that’s all the information I have for now, but if you do happen to meet him just remember to say hello for me and get me his autograph since I steered you into the right direction.

Happy Stephen watching everyone!

Traits of Stephen – Part 2

Posted in Stephen Moyer with tags , on December 8, 2008 by AdoreBill

true_blood_406_0716

It has been a week since I wrote “Traits of Stephen – Part 1”. By now many of you must have had the opportunity to watch some of Stephen’s other movies and tv series. I know for myself that as I have been watching his other performances I have been noticing certain nuances in his facial expression and body language that seem to be characteristic of Stephen. I always wondered what was mesmerizing me. Was it Bill the character or Stephen the actor. After watching many of his performances over and over again (enjoyed every minute of it) I came to the conclusion that it is Stephen the actor that has made me weak in the knees. In his many works he seems to exhibit certain common traits in his characters that lead me to conclude that these nuances are a part of him. So why don’t we take a look at some of the traits that I have noticed and see if you recognize them and if not be on the look out the next time you watch Stephen.

1. The nose rub — You notice this body language during Episode 6 of True Blood during the lovemaking scene. It seems very sweet, tender and teasing in a way and you find that he does this particular “move” in other close-up scenes with other female leads. He knows how to seduce the woman. To tease her and to heighten her anticipation. This, in my opinion, is something that Stephen knows how to do naturally in these particular situations.

2. The open-mouth pant — Again in most of his intimate scenes, Stephen’s characters are so wrapped up in the rapture of the moment that his mouth passionately explores his partner or reveals the intensity of his pleasure. Whether it was in True Blood or in Restraint, Stephen shows an intensity through his characters that makes it hard to distinguish whether he is just playing a role or is this how he really is in a real situation?

3. The upward gaze — You all know what I’m talking about. The first time Bill walks into the bar and sits down and looks up at Sookie with his head slightly down gazing upwards. I believe with that one look Stephen made millions of women fall in love with him. Now, here is my question the same one I asked above in the beginning, is it Bill or is it Stephen? Probably the movie that stands out in my mind that demonstrates the same look is in Undiscovered. His character in the movie exhibits some of the same facial expressions that I see in Bill which in turn has to be part of Stephen. In order to draw upon these traits there has be a little bit of yourself in these characters to bring to them to life.

4. The slightly puckered lip — Ok, whenever I see this look I just melt. It is a projection of that “bad boy” image. Tough, strong, confident with a slight tinge of a naughty boy behind it. You see it when Bill walks into his bathroom and finds Eric there. You see it at Fangtasia when Bill is standing by the bar while Sookie interrogates the humans. In Undiscovered and Men Only this slight puckered look comes across whenever the character is projecting an image of “coolness” about himself. Now there is a great picture of Stephen at the SAG red carpet last year. You can see the picture at http://anna-paquin.net where you see Anna posing for photographers and Stephen is in the background with her and he is standing there with the same puckered lip look. Now to me when I see Bill or any of his other characters do that look I know in my heart that is a part of Stephen. An expression of his confidence, strength, and natural “coolness”.

5. The Thrust — Now most of the women on the HBO Stephen Moyer/Bill Compton board know what I am talking about. The famous discussion that occurred on the board that, as one poster mentioned, “was the day when stephenthegodmoyer was born”. As most of you know there is a certain “technique” that Bill used in the sex scenes that had many of are hearts racing. However, upon further investigation I found, along with many others, that this particular style is not unique to the portrayal of Bill. Whether it was in Comic Act or in Restraint, Stephen’s characters employ a certain technique in the lovemaking scenes that have quite a few similarities. To the thrusting of his hips and the twisting of his body to how he is positioned on the women all seem quite familiar. Now I have discuss this with other women and we all came to the same conclusion: how much can you “fake” something that is a natural part of you? In other words, when the director calls for a sex scene, how much can you make it look different from what you would normally do?

So in the end, even though there is still very little information out there about Stephen and he remains still a mystery, by observing him in his movies and tv series we are able to pick up nuances in his acting that can lead us to clues as to who he is as a person. Stephen has mentioned in some interviews that he is a talkative, energetic, easy-going, sometimes mischievous guy. In his portrayal of Bill, Stephen stated that he wanted to convey a sense of stillness about him. Even though at first Bill seems to be the complete opposite of Stephen, we have seen bits of Stephen shine through him. All these nuances, the passion, the confidence, the strength, all may give us a glance into who Stephen is during those private times especially when he is with the woman in his life. All I can say is whoever has his heart is one very lucky lady and I only hope she knows what a rare gem she has in Stephen.

Traits of Stephen, Part 1

Stephen Moyer as Vampire Bill

Stephen Moyer as Vampire Bill

Last night was not the same without True Blood and our gorgeous Stephen. Like many of you I have been wondering what am I going to do until the summer of 2009 and season 2 starts up again. Well there is always On Demand, re-watching the episodes on the DVR, however, I discovered like many of you Stephen has been in many tv series and films and have decided to go through as many of them as I can to get through the winter and spring. While watching some of his other performances I have noticed similar traits that Stephen demonstrates in alot of his movies.

Now this is not a character trait however, I noticed while watching Comic Act, Undiscovered and the video from Comic-Con, Stephen is wearing the same necklace. It is a black string necklace with a silver pendant which makes me wonder what is the significance of this necklace since this is a personal item that he chose to wear during those three times during a span of 10 years. I have tried many times to get a close look at the design of the pendant but, have not been able to to figure it out. So lets play a game. I challenge you all to watch as many of Stephen’s movies and tv series and see if you find some similar traits and somethings that remind you Vampire Bill. So in order for the game to begin, here is the complete list of Stephen’s accomplishments:

  • Lord of Misrule (1996) (TV)
  • Conjugal Rites (1993) (TV)

So enjoy ladies and have fun trying to get to know Stephen’s nuances. I’d love to hear what you all have to say and in Part 2 we’ll go over some of the traits.

Till then happy watching!

Stephen Moyer Thanks His Fans

Stephen Moyer

Last night I received an e-mail from the Brentwood theatre. I opened it with anticipation and to my delight I found a huge picture of Stephen Moyer with a personal note from him and the administration staff thanking me for the my donation. Stephen mentioned that he is truly grateful for the donations that are coming in for the theatre from all his fans. Stephen stated that he will be at the theatre in December to see one of the productions and at that time he will be signing all the certificates. My certificate should arrive before the end of the year making this the best Christmas present I could ever wish for. The engraved bricks that people purchased for the wall will be up sometime in the new year and they will be invited to the unveiling, however Stephen mentioned that he most likely will not be able to attend as he will be shooting season 2 of True Blood. Season 1 of True Blood will be premiering in the U.K. on the FX Channel in April. We all know that once people in the U.K. see Stephen’s performance as the vampire, Bill Compton they will be as mesmerized by him as we are here in North America.
